Adventures in Guiding - Heritage

Visit the museum and find out more about special monuments and landmarks in Nepean. Learn all about the Bell family, who settled in Nepean in the 1820s, and compare their family tree with your own. Play a Victorian parlor game, make a traditional toy and discuss how Nepean has changed and may change in the years to come.

Adventures in Guiding - Provincial/Territorial Heritage

Discover how the province of Ontario and the Nepean community got their names. Discuss Nepean's history. Tryout traditional chores and create a craft using the same methods as early settlers.

Visit a museum to learn about the history of toys over the last 200 years. Create special toys and crafts to take home!

Learn about the ‘square foot gardening’ technique. Design a unique garden, plant a seed to take home and participate in a discussion about soil.

 Key to Me – Girlfriends through Time

Step back in time and learn about the lives of early settler women. Try your hand at traditional chores and discover how things are different today. Draw a picture of what your mother and grandmother would have worn as young women.

Key to My Community - All About Canada

In this program, learn all about Canadian symbols. Paint a special souvenir t-shirt. Create a poster celebrating the symbols of Ontario and play fun games to explore the images on Canadian currency.

Through interactive games and activities, learn about different modern Canadian inventors and their inventions. Make a miniature model to take home.

 Key to STEM - Exploring Space

Take a trip through space! Listen to a story about astronaut Roberta Bondar. Learn about the International Space Station, Canadarm, and discover the differences between a planetarium and an observatory. Design a space station and make masks to use while acting out a space story.

Completes all of the requirements of the 'Exploring Space' badge.

In My Community

Visit Nepean Museum and learn more about the people, places and wonderful resources available in Nepean. Design your own unique community, develop a group community project and participate in a puppet play celebrating both community helpers and safety.

Exploring and Experimenting

Learn about Nepean's most famous astronaut, Steve MacLean, and Canada's famous female astronaut, Roberta Bondar. Construct paper airplanes, fly balloon rockets and create a special sculpture to take home.
